Responsibilities
- Lead development of environmental policies and regulations in alignment with state and federal mandates
- Analyze scientific data and stakeholder input to recommend evidence-based policy solutions
- Coordinate interagency initiatives on climate adaptation and green infrastructure projects
- Represent the department in public forums and legislative hearings
- Oversee compliance monitoring programs for industrial and municipal facilities
- Manage grant-funded environmental research projects
- Mentor junior staff on regulatory frameworks and policy analysis methodologies
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Environmental Science, Public Policy, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in environmental policy development or regulatory compliance
- Expertise in Washington State environmental regulations (RCW, WAC)
- Proven ability to analyze complex scientific data and translate into policy recommendations
- Strong stakeholder engagement experience with diverse community groups
- Experience with environmental impact assessments (EIS) and NEPA processes
- Valid Washington State driver's license
