As a key member of our sustainability leadership team, you'll analyze complex environmental data, manage grant-funded projects, and implement county-wide green infrastructure initiatives. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement county-wide environmental compliance programs ensuring adherence to EPA, TCEQ, and local regulations
- Lead environmental impact assessments for county infrastructure projects and land development proposals
- Manage grant-funded sustainability initiatives including zero-waste programs and renewable energy transitions
- Analyze environmental data to identify pollution trends and recommend evidence-based policy changes
- Coordinate with community stakeholders, nonprofits, and industry partners on conservation initiatives
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for county commissioners and regulatory agencies
- Mentor junior staff and lead cross-departmental sustainability task forces
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental regulation, sustainability program management, or public sector environmental compliance
- Deep knowledge of federal/state environmental regulations (NEPA, Clean Air Act, RCRA) and Texas environmental statutes
- Advanced proficiency in GIS mapping software and environmental data analysis tools (ArcGIS, R, Python)
- Demonstrated success in managing complex environmental projects with budgets exceeding $500K
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with experience in public outreach and community education
- Valid Texas driver's license and ability to travel to field sites across the county
