Responsibilities
- Develop and implement county-wide waste reduction strategies targeting commercial and residential sectors
- Lead community engagement programs to increase recycling participation and composting adoption
- Analyze environmental data and prepare compliance reports for state and federal regulations
- Coordinate with public works and sustainability departments on green infrastructure projects
- Manage grant applications and oversee budget allocations for environmental initiatives
- Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance on emerging environmental technologies
- Present findings to county commissioners and community stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in environmental program management or sustainability coordination
- Certification in Waste Management or Environmental Compliance (preferred)
- Expertise in Oregon DEQ regulations and local sustainability ordinances
- Advanced data analysis skills with proficiency in GIS mapping software
- Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid Oregon driver's license
