Responsibilities
- Lead environmental compliance audits for municipal projects and coastal developments
- Develop and implement sustainable waste management policies for city operations
- Coordinate with state/federal agencies (EPA, DEQ) on regulatory reporting
- Manage stormwater pollution control programs across 38 miles of coastline
- Train city staff on environmental regulations and best practices
- Prepare grant proposals for environmental infrastructure projects
- Conduct environmental impact assessments for new urban developments
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of environmental compliance experience in government sector
- Strong knowledge of Virginia environmental regulations (VADEQ, VA SWCB)
- Valid Virginia driver's license
- Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) designation required
- Experience with GIS mapping and environmental data analysis
- Demonstrated grant writing success for federal/state programs
