Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of pension plan administration, including data validation, contribution processing, and benefit calculations.
- Conduct actuarial valuations and prepare detailed funding reports for federal oversight bodies.
- Ensure strict compliance with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and California state retirement laws.
- Analyze demographic trends and historical data to forecast future liabilities and recommend funding strategies.
- Act as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and external auditors regarding pension inquiries.
- Review and update plan documents to reflect legislative changes and internal policy updates.
- Collaborate with HR teams to streamline retirement onboarding and offboarding processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in federal or state pension plan administration or actuarial consulting.
- Professional certification (e.g., FSA, CFA, CPA, or ERPA) is a significant advantage.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VBA, PivotTables) and experience with pension administration software (e.g., PeopleSoft, SAP).
- Strong working knowledge of the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) or similar large-scale public pension funds.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory guidelines.
