Role Overview
As a Senior Federal Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the architecture, design, and implementation of secure IT systems that meet rigorous federal standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to modernize legacy infrastructure and ensure 24/7 system availability.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain secure cloud and on-premise infrastructure for federal clients.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to meet FedRAMP and NIST compliance requirements.
- Perform system troubleshooting and performance tuning to ensure optimal uptime for critical government applications.
- Collaborate with system architects to integrate modern DevOps practices into legacy federal environments.
- Document technical architecture, configurations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure knowledge transfer.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineering staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field (Master’s preferred).
- Active Secret Security Clearance (or ability to obtain one).
- 5+ years of experience in federal IT environments or comparable government contracting sectors.
- Certifications: AWS Solutions Architect, CISSP, or Security+ (required).
- Strong knowledge of federal regulations, ITIL framework, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
