Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of complex GIS databases and mapping applications to support urban planning and transportation projects.
- Conduct advanced spatial analysis and data modeling to provide actionable insights for city council decisions and infrastructure development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including civil engineers and policy makers, to integrate geospatial data into operational workflows.
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with local, state, and federal geographic data standards.
- Train and mentor junior analysts and staff on GIS best practices, software tools, and methodologies.
- Produce high-quality visualizations and reports for public presentations and executive briefings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Urban Planning, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in GIS analysis, preferably within the public sector or a municipal government environment.
- Advanced proficiency in ArcGIS Desktop and Server, including geoprocessing tools and spatial statistics.
- Strong coding skills in Python or SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
- Experience with web mapping technologies such as ArcGIS Online or ESRI API.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical data into understandable policy recommendations.
- Valid California driver’s license and proof of insurance.
