Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality geospatial data layers and mapping systems for state infrastructure projects.
- Conduct advanced spatial analyses and modeling to support strategic transportation planning and decision-making.
- Create compelling cartographic products, dashboards, and visualizations for executive leadership and public stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with civil engineers, urban planners, and external partners to integrate GIS solutions into project workflows.
- Ensure strict data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with all state and federal GIS standards.
- Provide technical mentorship, training, and guidance to junior GIS staff members and cross-functional teams.
- Perform routine database maintenance and system upgrades to optimize performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geomatics, Computer Science, or a related technical field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) within a government, engineering, or public sector environment.
- Advanced proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS suite (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online) and SQL database management.
- Strong working knowledge of Pennsylvania Department of Transportation systems, regulations, and data standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical data into clear, actionable insights.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven agency setting.
