Responsibilities
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) databases and mapping solutions for county infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect, clean, and analyze spatial and non-spatial data to support urban planning and transportation initiatives.
- Develop custom GIS applications and web-based mapping tools to enhance public accessibility to government data.
- Conduct field surveys and data validation to ensure the accuracy and integrity of geospatial datasets.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, maps, and visualizations for stakeholders, elected officials, and the general public.
- Manage project timelines and budgets for GIS-related technical tasks and external vendor partnerships.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, Urban Planning, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in GIS analysis, data management, or spatial modeling.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, or JavaScript, along with experience in Esri ArcGIS or QGIS.
- Strong understanding of cartographic principles, database management systems (SQL Server, Oracle), and geodatabase architecture.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Experience working in a government or public sector environment is highly desirable.
