Responsibilities
- Research and identify grant opportunities aligned with organizational priorities and programmatic goals
- Develop and write persuasive grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports for federal, state, and private foundations
- Collaborate with program staff to gather and refine project data, budgets, and impact metrics
- Manage grant application pipeline, ensuring timely submission of all materials
- Maintain accurate records of funding relationships and reporting requirements
- Analyze funding trends and provide strategic recommendations to leadership
- Represent organization at funder meetings and networking events
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field (Communications, English, Nonprofit Management) or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of professional grant writing experience with 80%+ success rate
- Proven track record securing grants from diverse funding sources (>$500,000 in awards)
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with ability to translate complex data into compelling narratives
- Strong research skills and knowledge of funding landscape for Virginia nonprofits
- Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and grant databases
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities
- Portfolio demonstrating successful grant applications and funded projects
