As a key member of our Development team, you'll craft compelling narratives that resonate with diverse funding partners, including private foundations, corporate sponsors, and government agencies. You'll collaborate with program directors to translate complex projects into persuasive grant proposals, ensuring our mission to strengthen Charlotte communities receives the resources it deserves.
Responsibilities
- Research and identify strategic funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities
- Write, edit, and submit high-impact grant proposals (LOIs, full applications, reports)
- Develop compelling case statements and program budgets for diverse funders
- Manage grant pipeline including prospect tracking, deadlines, and reporting requirements
- Cultivate relationships with program officers and funding partners
- Provide training and mentorship to junior staff on grant writing best practices
- Analyze funding trends and maintain competitive intelligence in philanthropic landscape
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field (Communications, Nonprofit Mgmt, English)
- 5+ years professional grant writing experience with $1M+ secured portfolio
- Proven success with federal/state grants and private foundation applications
- Expertise in program development, budget creation, and compliance reporting
- Exceptional writing/editing skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce) and grant management software
- Strong collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams
