Responsibilities
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of critical state-wide IT systems and databases.
- Develop and enforce cybersecurity protocols to protect sensitive government data from cyber threats.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify technical requirements and translate them into scalable solutions.
- Conduct system audits, performance testing, and capacity planning to ensure optimal operational efficiency.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Manage vendor relationships and oversee contract performance for third-party software and hardware solutions.
- Document technical processes and maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies relevant to state operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required; Master’s degree preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in information technology, with a focus on government or public sector environments.
- Strong proficiency in Python, Java, or C#, along with extensive experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect are highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in project management methodologies (Agile/Scrum) and system lifecycle management.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable background check and security clearance as required by federal and state regulations.
