Responsibilities
- Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of the county's local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN).
- Configure and manage network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs, to ensure high availability and security.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot complex issues to minimize downtime for county operations.
- Ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local IT security regulations and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify technical requirements and implement IT solutions that meet business objectives.
- Maintain detailed documentation of network architecture, configurations, and changes.
- Perform regular system audits and security assessments to identify vulnerabilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in network engineering, system administration, or IT infrastructure management.
- Professional certification such as CCNP, CCIE, CISSP, or CompTIA Security+ is highly preferred.
- Proven experience in government or public sector IT environments is a strong plus.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, routing, switching, and network security protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
