Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Management: Design, implement, and maintain complex network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance for all state agencies.
- Cloud & Virtualization: Oversee server virtualization strategies using VMware vSphere and manage hybrid cloud environments (Azure/AWS) for modernization efforts.
- Security & Compliance: Conduct vulnerability assessments, implement security protocols, and ensure strict adherence to state and federal IT compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO).
- Vendor Management: Lead relationships with third-party technology vendors, managing contracts and ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Technical Leadership: Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineering staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
- Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain robust disaster recovery plans to protect critical data assets in the event of system failures.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure engineering, networking, or system administration.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency with Cisco networking, Windows Server, Linux, and VMware virtualization technologies.
- Cloud Knowledge: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) is highly preferred.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CCNP, VCP, or Azure Administrator are a plus.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Agility: Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic government environment with shifting priorities.
