Responsibilities
- Design and implement enterprise cybersecurity frameworks aligned with NIST standards
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on city systems
- Manage incident response protocols for security breaches
- Develop security awareness training programs for municipal staff
- Oversee compliance with FISMA, HIPAA, and California data privacy laws
- Coordinate with IT infrastructure teams to harden network defenses
- Generate executive-level security risk reports
- Maintain documentation of security policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in IT security with government/public sector background
- CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security+ certification required
- Expert knowledge of network security tools (SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS)
- Experience with cloud security architectures (AWS/Azure)
- Familiarity with California Government Code security requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance
