Position Overview
The Senior IT Systems Administrator will oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the county's server infrastructure. You will be responsible for troubleshooting complex issues, implementing security protocols, and ensuring high availability of services for government operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the enterprise server infrastructure, including Windows Server and Linux environments.
- Implement and enforce network security protocols to protect sensitive government data and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for critical system outages and perform regular system health checks and performance tuning.
- Design and execute disaster recovery plans and conduct regular backup and restore drills.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and software solutions.
- Document system configurations, processes, and procedures for future maintenance and knowledge transfer.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior IT staff and junior administrators.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Systems Administration, preferably within a government or large enterprise environment.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Active Directory.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware or Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator are highly preferred.
- Familiarity with ITIL framework and incident management processes.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
