Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Management: Oversee the maintenance, optimization, and troubleshooting of on-premise servers, virtualization environments, and cloud-based infrastructure (AWS/Azure).
- Security Compliance: Implement and enforce strict cybersecurity protocols, including access controls, patch management, and disaster recovery planning to meet federal and state compliance standards.
- System Administration: Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, and enterprise backup solutions to ensure business continuity across all city agencies.
- Vendor Management: Lead the evaluation and management of third-party IT service providers and hardware vendors.
- Team Leadership: Mentor junior administrators and conduct technical training sessions to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Performance Monitoring: Utilize monitoring tools to proactively identify system bottlenecks and performance degradation.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required; an equivalent combination of education and extensive relevant experience may be substituted.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in systems administration, network engineering, or IT infrastructure management.
- Certifications: Active certifications such as CompTIA Security+, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator are highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Windows Server, Linux administration, virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V), and scripting languages (PowerShell, Python).
- Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and city leadership.
- Soft Skills: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced government environment with a focus on integrity and service.
