Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain complex IT infrastructure including servers, virtualization, and cloud environments.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues, and implement proactive maintenance strategies.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state cybersecurity regulations, including NIST and Texas state privacy laws.
- Lead projects related to system upgrades, migrations, and disaster recovery planning.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
- Mentor junior administrators and provide technical guidance to department staff.
- Document all system configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure knowledge transfer.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration, with a focus on Microsoft Windows Server environments and Linux.
- Active certification such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or CISSP.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) and scripting languages (PowerShell, Python).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced government environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Texas driver's license and pass a background investigation.
