Responsibilities
- Oversee the calculation and processing of monthly pension benefits for retired state employees, ensuring accuracy and strict compliance with PERA (Public Employee Retirement Association) regulations.
- Conduct thorough audits of pension records and claims to identify discrepancies and resolve complex benefit issues efficiently.
- Analyze actuarial data and trends to provide recommendations for plan sustainability and financial forecasting.
- Respond to inquiries from retirees, beneficiaries, and internal stakeholders regarding pension eligibility, contribution rates, and payment status.
- Collaborate with the IT department to implement and maintain pension administration software systems and databases.
- Ensure strict adherence to federal and state privacy laws (FERPA/GDPR) and financial reporting standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Accounting, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pension administration, benefits management, or actuarial analysis within the public or private sector.
- Deep knowledge of PERA (Public Employee Retirement Association) rules, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel functions (VLOOKUP, PivotTables) and database management tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and actuarial tables.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-technical audiences.
