The Role:
You will serve as the primary point of contact for pension calculations, compliance, and beneficiary claims. We need someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses a deep understanding of retirement planning.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily administration of federal pension plans and ensure accurate calculation of monthly benefits.
- Review and process retirement applications, ensuring strict adherence to ERISA guidelines and government regulations.
- Conduct audits of pension records and fund balances to identify discrepancies and mitigate financial risk.
- Communicate complex pension information clearly to retirees, beneficiaries, and government officials via phone and email.
- Collaborate with the IT department to maintain and update pension management software systems.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for the Board of Trustees and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (required).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pension administration, actuarial science, or government benefits management (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) and IRS tax regulations regarding retirement plans.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and pension administration software (e.g., SS&C, Broadridge).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-financial audiences.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting with strict adherence to deadlines.
