Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily administration of the Ohio State Pension Plan, ensuring 100% data accuracy across all member records.
- Analyze actuarial data and financial statements to ensure the long-term sustainability and solvency of the pension fund.
- Interpret complex state regulations and Ohio Revised Code to ensure full compliance with federal and local pension laws.
- Provide expert guidance and support to employees and retirees regarding eligibility, vesting periods, and monthly benefit calculations.
- Conduct regular audits of pension files to identify discrepancies and mitigate financial risk.
- Collaborate with the HR and Finance departments to streamline benefit communication and enrollment processes.
- Train and mentor junior staff on pension software systems and regulatory updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Public Administration, Business, or a related field is required.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in pension administration, benefits management, or actuarial science within the government or financial sector.
- Deep working knowledge of Ohio State Government retirement systems and relevant labor laws.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Access, for data modeling.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for explaining complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- CFP or FPC certification is a strong plus.
