Responsibilities
- Administer pension plan operations including eligibility verification, benefit calculations, and disbursement processing
- Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations (ERISA, IRS, NC General Statutes) and internal governance policies
- Respond to complex member inquiries regarding retirement benefits, survivor options, and plan provisions
- Collaborate with financial institutions and auditors for quarterly/yearly plan valuations and reporting
- Develop and maintain accurate participant records using specialized pension administration software
- Conduct annual plan reviews and recommend process improvements for operational efficiency
- Prepare comprehensive reports for management and regulatory agencies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in pension plan administration or retirement benefits management
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS regulations 401(a)/403(b), and North Carolina retirement laws
- Proficiency with pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, VCP, or similar platforms)
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or ASPPA designation preferred
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to complex numerical data
- Experience preparing regulatory filings and annual reports
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and integrity
