Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the administration of the State Pension Plan, ensuring strict compliance with state laws and federal regulations.
- Analyze actuarial reports and financial data to assess the health, sustainability, and actuarial soundness of pension funds.
- Provide exceptional customer service and support to current and retired public employees regarding pension inquiries, benefits, and eligibility.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement strategic improvements to retirement plan offerings.
- Conduct audits and quality control reviews of pension documentation, processing procedures, and member records.
- Stay updated on legislative changes affecting public sector retirement benefits and communicate them effectively to the public.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Public Administration, or a related field.
- At least 3-5 years of progressive experience in pension administration, benefits management, or actuarial analysis within the public or private sector.
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, California Government Code, and applicable retirement laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically advanced Excel functions and data visualization tools.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume government environment.
