Responsibilities
- Oversee the calculation and processing of retirement benefits for eligible public employees.
- Analyze actuarial reports and pension fund performance to ensure long-term sustainability.
- Ensure strict compliance with state retirement laws and CalPERS regulations.
- Respond to complex inquiries from retirees and active employees regarding pension eligibility.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to update plan documents and policy procedures.
- Conduct training sessions for staff on new pension legislation and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in public sector pension administration or actuarial work.
- Strong working knowledge of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel functions.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly.
