Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end administration of the State Pension Plan, including eligibility verification and benefit calculations.
- Conduct thorough reviews of retirement applications to ensure strict compliance with Michigan Treasury regulations and ERISA standards.
- Act as the primary liaison for retirees and beneficiaries, addressing complex inquiries regarding pension distribution and survivor benefits.
- Collaborate with the actuarial and finance departments to prepare quarterly reports and long-term financial projections for the pension fund.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the state’s pension database, ensuring data integrity and security.
- Identify process improvements to streamline pension processing and enhance the beneficiary experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Public Administration, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in pension administration, benefits management, or actuarial analysis.
- Strong working knowledge of Michigan state government payroll laws and federal pension regulations (ERISA).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for complex data analysis and modeling.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to handle sensitive financial data with confidentiality.
- Must possess a reliable home office setup and high-speed internet to support remote operations.
