Responsibilities
- Analyze urban development trends and draft policy recommendations for City Council and Mayoral offices
- Lead community outreach initiatives to gather stakeholder input on land use proposals
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative research using GIS, statistical modeling, and policy frameworks
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for legislative and public audiences
- Coordinate with interagency teams on implementation of PlaNYC 2050 goals
- Monitor federal/state regulatory changes affecting NYC's planning landscape
- Mentor junior analysts and supervise project deliverables
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Policy, Economics, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in urban policy analysis or government planning
- Advanced proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and statistical tools (R, Python)
- Demonstrated success in developing zoning and land use policy frameworks
- Expertise in community engagement methodologies and public speaking
- Knowledge of NYC's charter, administrative code, and ULURP process
- Ability to manage competing priorities in high-stakes political environments
- Valid New York State driver's license (required for field site visits)
