Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive communications strategies for city departments
- Write and edit press releases, speeches, and official communications
- Manage social media channels and digital content campaigns
- Coordinate press conferences and media outreach events
- Monitor public sentiment and adjust messaging strategies
- Collaborate with community leaders and stakeholder groups
- Produce multimedia content including videos and infographics
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of public affairs or communications experience
- Proven track record of managing social media for government entities
- Exceptional writing and editing abilities with portfolio samples
- Experience with crisis communications protocols
- Knowledge of Oakland's diverse communities and issues
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and CMS platforms
- Valid California driver's license
