Responsibilities
- Lead epidemiological surveillance for communicable diseases using advanced data analytics tools
- Develop and implement targeted public health intervention programs in underserved communities
- Coordinate with local healthcare providers to ensure rapid response to health emergencies
- Analyze health trends and prepare comprehensive reports for state policy development
- Manage grant-funded projects totaling $500K+ annually
- Mentor junior analysts and train public health professionals on surveillance methodologies
- Represent the department in inter-agency coalitions and community outreach events
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or related field (required)
- 3+ years of experience in disease surveillance or health analytics
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, R, or SAS for health data analysis
- Certified in Public Health (CPH) or eligible within 6 months
- Experience with Florida's Health Information Exchange (HIE) systems
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into actionable policy recommendations
- Valid Florida driver's license with clean driving record
- Spanish bilingual preferred for community engagement
