Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive facility inspections (restaurants, childcare centers, swimming pools) ensuring compliance with health codes
- Investigate public health complaints and initiate corrective actions
- Develop and deliver educational programs for businesses and community groups
- Collaborate with epidemiology teams during disease outbreak responses
- Maintain detailed inspection reports and digital health records
- Provide expert testimony in legal proceedings regarding health violations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, or related field
- Texas Registered Sanitarian (RS) certification required
- 3+ years of environmental health inspection experience
- Strong knowledge of Texas Health & Safety Code and local ordinances
- Excellent communication skills for public education and conflict resolution
- Valid Texas driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings/weekends for emergency responses
