Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of food establishments, childcare facilities, and public swimming pools
- Investigate public health complaints and potential disease outbreaks
- Enforce local and state health regulations with precise documentation
- Develop and deliver public health education programs to community stakeholders
- Collaborate with epidemiologists and emergency response teams during health crises
- Maintain accurate inspection databases and generate compliance reports
- Train junior inspectors on standardized protocols and safety procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in public health inspection or regulatory compliance
- Valid Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) certification
- Texas Department of State Health Services Inspector certification
- Strong knowledge of FDA Food Code and Texas Health & Safety Code
- Excellent communication skills for community outreach and testimony
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for emergency response
- Valid Texas driver's license with clean driving record
