Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive policy recommendations addressing urban challenges like housing affordability, climate resilience, and public safety
- Analyze legislative impacts and regulatory frameworks to ensure compliance with state/federal requirements
- Lead cross-functional stakeholder engagement including community forums, advisory boards, and interagency task forces
- Prepare executive briefings, policy whitepapers, and legislative testimony for City Council and Mayor's Office
- Manage policy implementation projects with measurable outcomes and KPI tracking
- Conduct quantitative/qualitative research using GIS mapping, demographic analysis, and program evaluation
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Policy, Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of policy analysis experience in municipal, state, or federal government
- Expertise in quantitative research methods and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, R)
- Proven track record of developing successful policy initiatives with community impact
- Deep knowledge of California's legislative process and regulatory landscape
- Exceptional written/verbal communication skills with ability to simplify complex concepts
- Valid California driver's license (travel required to city facilities)
