Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive field inspections of public works projects including roads, bridges, and drainage systems
- Review construction plans and specifications for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate project documentation
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city departments to resolve compliance issues
- Enforce safety standards and environmental regulations during construction phases
- Investigate citizen complaints and provide technical guidance to project stakeholders
- Maintain certification records and ensure adherence to industry best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of public works inspection experience with municipal projects
- Valid California Class C Driver's License and clean driving record
- California Inspector Certification (QACI, Caltrans, or equivalent)
- Expert knowledge of ICC, IBC, and California Title 24 regulations
- Strong proficiency with inspection software (e.g., Cityworks, GIS systems)
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and conflict resolution
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions and lift up to 50 pounds
