Responsibilities
- Inspect public works construction projects for compliance with city codes, permits, and safety regulations
- Review engineering plans, specifications, and contractor submittals for accuracy
- Issue notices of violation and ensure corrective actions are implemented
- Conduct field inspections for roads, bridges, drainage systems, and utility installations
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate project documentation
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city departments to resolve issues
- Testify in legal proceedings regarding code violations and project compliance
Qualifications
- Five years of experience in public works construction inspection or related field
- Valid California Inspector certification (OSHPD, Caltrans, or ICC preferred)
- Proficiency with CAD software and inspection reporting tools
- Knowledge of California Building Codes, Title 24, and ADA standards
- Ability to interpret engineering blueprints and technical specifications
- Strong communication skills for reporting and conflict resolution
- Valid California Class C driver's license
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred
