Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive field inspections of public works projects including roads, drainage systems, and utilities
- Review construction plans and specifications for compliance with city codes and regulations
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city departments to resolve compliance issues
- Investigate citizen complaints related to public works infrastructure
- Assist in developing inspection procedures and training junior staff
- Participate in emergency response for public works incidents
Qualifications
- Five years of experience in public works construction inspection or civil engineering
- Valid California Inspector certification (CIT, CDT, or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of municipal codes, ADA standards, and Caltrans specifications
- Proficiency in GIS software and inspection reporting tools
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder interactions
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints
- Valid California driver's license with clean record
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred
