Responsibilities
- Execute complex road construction, drainage system installation, and utility maintenance projects
- Operate heavy machinery including excavators, backhoes, and asphalt pavers with precision
- Implement OSHA-compliant safety procedures and maintain job site hazard prevention
- Coordinate with engineering teams for blueprint interpretation and technical implementation
- Lead crew operations during critical infrastructure upgrades across Wake County
- Perform advanced concrete finishing and structural reinforcement tasks
- Document project progress and material usage for compliance reporting
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of public works or heavy construction experience
- Valid North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Certification in heavy equipment operation (e.g., NCCER)
- OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certification required
- Ability to lift 80+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Experience with GPS surveying and automated grade control systems
- Pass pre-employment physical and substance screening
- Must possess basic blueprint reading and math skills for material calculations
