Join Multnomah County's innovative sustainability team and lead impactful environmental initiatives across the Portland metropolitan area. As our Senior Sustainability Coordinator, you'll shape policies that reduce carbon emissions, promote green infrastructure, and advance environmental justice for our diverse communities.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement county-wide sustainability action plans aligned with climate resilience goals
- Lead cross-departmental initiatives for waste reduction, renewable energy adoption, and green building standards
- Analyze environmental data and prepare reports for policy recommendations to the County Commission
- Manage grant applications and oversee sustainability program budgets totaling $2M+
- Coordinate with community stakeholders to ensure inclusive environmental justice practices
- Monitor compliance with state environmental regulations and federal sustainability mandates
- Train county staff on sustainable practices and resource conservation techniques
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in sustainability program management within government or non-profit sectors
- Expertise in carbon footprint analysis, life-cycle assessment, and sustainability reporting frameworks
- Proven track record of developing and implementing environmental policies
- Strong grant writing skills with $500K+ secured funding record
- Knowledge of Oregon environmental regulations and climate action strategies
- Excellent data visualization and stakeholder communication abilities
- Valid Oregon driver's license with clean driving record
