Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the day-to-day operations of Windows Server infrastructure and Linux systems during night shift coverage.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues, and implement patches and updates to ensure security compliance.
- Respond to critical alerts and incidents in a timely manner to maintain 24/7 system availability for state tax processing.
- Collaborate with day-shift teams to document procedures, configure network settings, and optimize system performance.
- Perform regular backups, data recovery testing, and disaster recovery planning exercises.
- Ensure adherence to New York State IT security policies and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, SOX).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in system administration, specifically with Windows Server and Active Directory.
- Experience working in a Night Shift environment is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and firewalls.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell or Bash.
- Ability to obtain a NYS Justice Center background check and clearance.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
