The Tennessee Department of General Services (TDGS) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Systems Administrator to join our dynamic IT team in Nashville. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the state's server infrastructure. You will work in a collaborative environment that prioritizes innovation, security, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and administration of Windows Server environments, virtualization platforms, and network infrastructure.
- Implement and manage network security protocols, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems to protect state data assets.
- Lead server migration projects and ensure high availability and disaster recovery procedures are up to date.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide advanced technical support.
- Manage vendor relationships and conduct performance reviews for IT service providers.
- Monitor system performance using tools like SolarWinds or Nagios and optimize resources accordingly.
- Document technical configurations, standard operating procedures, and change management logs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent years of experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Systems Administration or Network Engineering.
- Valid certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, PowerShell, and Hyper-V.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, VPNs, and firewall configuration.
- Experience with cloud technologies (AWS/Azure) is a strong plus.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Tennessee background check and security clearance.
