Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the state's core server, storage, and virtualization environments.
- System Optimization: Monitor system performance, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and implement patches and updates to ensure 99.9% uptime.
- Cybersecurity Compliance: Enforce strict security protocols, conduct regular security audits, and ensure compliance with federal and state cybersecurity standards (e.g., NIST).
- Project Leadership: Lead medium-to-large-scale IT projects, including cloud migration initiatives and hardware refreshes, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain robust disaster recovery plans to protect critical state data and services.
- Ticket Management: Serve as the escalation point for critical technical incidents, ensuring timely resolution for internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in systems administration, preferably within a government or enterprise environment.
- Certifications: Active Security+, CompTIA Network+, and/or VMware VCP certification is highly desired.
- Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Linux, Hyper-V, and cloud platforms (Azure or AWS).
- Clearance: Must be eligible for a Federal Background Investigation and possess an active Secret or Top Secret clearance.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
