Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive urban planning policies and zoning regulations
- Analyze demographic and economic data to inform strategic development initiatives
- Lead community engagement sessions and public hearings for major projects
- Prepare environmental impact assessments and compliance documentation
- Coordinate with FEMA on flood mitigation and resilience planning
- Manage grant applications and compliance for federal funding programs
- Oversee GIS mapping and spatial analysis for urban development projects
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in municipal planning or government development
- Valid Louisiana Professional Planner certification (AICP preferred)
- Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and urban modeling tools
- Demonstrated experience with NEPA and environmental compliance processes
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Louisiana's coastal zone management regulations
- Ability to manage complex projects with competing stakeholder interests
