Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive zoning code analysis and land use planning initiatives for major development projects
- Conduct advanced demographic and economic impact assessments for urban redevelopment zones
- Develop and implement community engagement strategies for participatory planning processes
- Prepare technical reports, environmental assessments, and policy recommendations for city council review
- Manage GIS mapping and spatial analysis for urban design and infrastructure planning
- Coordinate with federal/state agencies to secure compliance with HUD and EPA regulations
- Mentor junior planning staff and oversee project deliverables
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive experience in municipal planning or government development
- Expert proficiency in ArcGIS, QGIS, and urban modeling software
- Proven track record in community outreach and stakeholder facilitation
- Deep knowledge of Illinois zoning laws and Chicago municipal codes
- Strong quantitative skills with experience in demographic analysis and economic forecasting
- Valid Illinois driver's license and ability to travel to community sites
