Responsibilities
- Perform heavy manual labor including excavation, grading, and paving maintenance on roads and sidewalks.
- Operate and maintain heavy equipment such as dump trucks, jackhammers, and rollers under supervision.
- Assist in the installation and repair of storm drains, sewers, and water lines.
- Participate in snow and ice removal operations during inclement weather to ensure public safety.
- Perform landscaping duties including mowing, trimming, and planting in public parks and right-of-ways.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to all safety protocols and OSHA guidelines.
- Unload and distribute materials at construction sites using hand tools and forklifts.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Virginia Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to perform heavy physical labor in various weather conditions (heat, rain, snow).
- Basic knowledge of construction safety and equipment operation is a plus but not required.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screen.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed for project deadlines.
