The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 2 is seeking a dedicated Transportation Engineer III to lead critical infrastructure projects across Jacksonville and surrounding communities. Responsibilities
- Design and oversee implementation of highway, bridge, and transit infrastructure projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation
- Conduct traffic impact studies and develop mitigation strategies for urban development projects
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and compliance with FDOT and federal regulations (FHWA)
- Prepare technical specifications, construction documents, and quality assurance plans
- Coordinate with environmental specialists to ensure NEPA compliance and sustainability best practices
- Lead public outreach initiatives and stakeholder engagement for major infrastructure projects
- Mentor junior engineers and review technical submissions for accuracy and regulatory adherence
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited institution
- Minimum 5 years of progressive transportation engineering experience with public sector projects
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Florida
- Proficiency in transportation modeling software (TransCAD, VISUM) and GIS applications (ArcGIS)
- Strong knowledge of FDOT Standard Specifications and Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)
- Demonstrated experience managing complex infrastructure projects from conception to completion
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and public presentations
- Valid Florida driver's license with acceptable driving record
