Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on highways, bridges, and traffic control systems
- Operate heavy machinery including asphalt pavers, graders, and snow removal equipment
- Respond to weekend emergencies including traffic incidents and weather-related hazards
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and submit detailed incident reports
- Collaborate with weekend engineering teams for infrastructure improvement projects
- Ensure strict compliance with OSHA and NCDOT safety protocols
- Coordinate with law enforcement during weekend traffic management operations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 2 years of heavy equipment operation experience
- OSHA 10-hour construction safety certification preferred
- Ability to work independently in all weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills during weekend emergency situations
- Must pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Basic computer proficiency for reporting systems
