Responsibilities
- Perform nightly inspections and preventative maintenance on highways, bridges, and traffic control systems
- Operate specialized equipment including pavement markers, traffic signals, and emergency response vehicles
- Document infrastructure conditions using digital reporting tools and photographic evidence
- Respond to urgent nighttime incidents including debris removal and hazard mitigation
- Collaborate with day-shift teams through detailed handover protocols
- Ensure strict compliance with Caltrans safety regulations and OSHA standards
- Assist in traffic control during nighttime construction and emergency operations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years infrastructure maintenance experience
- Valid California Class C Driver's License with clean driving record
- OSHA 10-hour construction safety certification preferred
- Proficiency in digital reporting systems and mobile inspection tools
- Ability to work independently in low-visibility conditions with minimal supervision
- Physical capability to lift 50 lbs and operate heavy machinery
- Flexibility to work variable schedules including weekends and holidays
- Basic knowledge of traffic control devices and MUTCD standards
