Responsibilities
- Operate X-ray equipment and walk-through metal detectors to screen passengers, baggage, and cargo for prohibited items.
- Conduct thorough pat-down searches and physical inspections when necessary to ensure compliance with security regulations.
- Apply the Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act (LEOSA) and other security protocols to maintain a safe environment.
- Interact with passengers in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner, especially those with special needs or language barriers.
- Monitor screening areas for suspicious activity and respond immediately to security alerts or breaches.
- Document screening results and report any irregularities or equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship and eligibility to obtain a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secret Security Clearance.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and medical examination.
- Good vision with the ability to distinguish colors (red/green) and read text.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks, including lifting and bending.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
