Job Summary:
As a Security Screener, you will be responsible for the security of passengers, their property, and cargo transported in air, rail, and mass transit systems. Your primary goal is to detect any dangerous objects or materials and prevent them from entering the secure transportation area.
Responsibilities
- Screening Operations: Operate X-ray machines and Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT) to screen carry-on baggage and passengers for prohibited items.
- Physical Searches: Perform thorough pat-downs and physical searches of passengers and their belongings when imaging technology indicates a potential threat.
- Threat Detection: Detect, deter, and disrupt threats to transportation security.
- Customer Service: Deliver high-quality customer service to travelers while explaining security procedures and maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Protocol Adherence: Strictly adhere to all TSA security directives, regulations, and standard operating procedures.
- Documentation: Complete necessary paperwork, logs, and reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Emergency Response: Assist in emergency response situations and maintain situational awareness at all times.
Qualifications
- United States Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or national.
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Education: High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate is required.
- Background Check: Must be able to pass a federal background investigation, including fingerprinting and a drug screen.
- Physical Requirements: Must meet the physical demands of the job, including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and passing a medical examination.
- Availability: Must be willing to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
