Responsibilities
- Perform security screening of passengers, carry-on baggage, and property using advanced imaging technology and X-ray equipment.
- Identify potential threats, prohibited items, and dangerous materials to prevent them from entering secure areas.
- Interact with the public in a professional, courteous, and customer-service-oriented manner to explain screening procedures and alleviate concerns.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain security screening equipment, ensuring it functions correctly and efficiently.
- Adhere to all TSA directives, security protocols, and agency policies at all times, including strict adherence to the TSA Screening Management Directive (SMD).
- Participate in emergency response drills, training exercises, and continuous professional development.
- Collaborate with fellow officers to maintain a safe, secure, and organized checkpoint environment.
Qualifications
- Be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National as required by federal law.
- Hold a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
- Successfully pass a federal background investigation, including fingerprinting and drug screening.
- Be able to perform physical activities such as standing, walking, lifting, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
- Have the ability to work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and overtime as required by the operational needs of the airport.
- Possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
