Responsibilities
- Screen passengers and carry-on luggage for prohibited items using advanced X-ray technology and manual search techniques
- Operate walk-through metal detectors and explosive trace detection equipment
- Conduct thorough baggage and cargo inspections according to TSA protocols
- Communicate effectively with travelers regarding security procedures and requirements
- Document security incidents and maintain accurate operational records
- Respond to security alerts and implement emergency response procedures
- Collaborate with law enforcement and airport personnel during security operations
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship or legal resident status with valid work authorization
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Pass TSA background investigation and security clearance process
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation systems
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Successfully complete TSA's paid training program (approximately 2-4 weeks)
