Job Summary
As a TSA Security Screener, you will be responsible for screening passengers, baggage, and cargo at airports to ensure the safety of the traveling public. You will operate state-of-the-art screening equipment and maintain a high level of vigilance to detect threats while providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Screening Operations: Operate X-ray machines, metal detectors, and other security screening equipment to detect prohibited items in carry-on luggage and on passengers.
- Pat-Downs: Perform comprehensive pat-down searches of passengers when advanced imaging technology is not used or requires a manual follow-up.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with travelers, providing clear instructions and maintaining a calm demeanor during security screenings.
- Security Protocols: Adhere strictly to TSA regulations, laws, and standard operating procedures to ensure safety and compliance.
- Threat Detection: Identify and report any suspicious behavior, items, or individuals to supervisors or law enforcement immediately.
- Documentation: Complete all required documentation accurately, including screening reports and incident logs.
- Physical Stamina: Maintain a high level of physical fitness and be prepared to stand for extended periods and lift heavy bags as needed.
Qualifications
- Citizenship: Must be a United States Citizen.
- Education: High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate required.
- Background Check: Must pass a thorough background check, including criminal history and credit check, and a medical screening.
- Drug Test: Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and have good vision (corrective lenses allowed).
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Availability: Must be available to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
